Welcome to CleanBurbank.com, home of the City of Burbank's alternative fuel vehicle (AFV) program! As a designated Clean City, the City is working hard to clean the air you breathe by phasing in alternative fuel fleet vehicles that emit far less vehicle pollution compared to gasoline and diesel cars and trucks. In fact, some of our fleet vehicles have NO emissions at all and our electric vehicles don't even have a tailpipe. An added benefit of using alternative fuels is reducing our reliance on foreign oil, an important goal of our national energy policy.
The City already owns one heavy-duty and 23 light-duty natural gas vehicles, one hybrid (gasoline/electric) and 12 zero-emission electric vehicles. In addition, the City and others have installed 14 electric vehicle charging stations at city parking lots, shopping centers and the airport. An exciting new development in our program is the addition of a state of the art Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling station. Construction on the station is complete and we are currently conducting acceptance testing. Station opening is planned for April 24, 2002.
When the City's program is fully implemented, it will include a fleet of over 110 alternative fuel fleet vehicles. These clean cars and trucks will reduce the City Fleet's pollution emissions by well over five and a half tons per year, or 56.5 tons during the life of the program.
Surf the site for a wide range of alternative fuel vehicle and station information including station locations, fleet vehicle information, general AFV information and more. We even have a webcam through which you may view the construction progress of our 24-hour public access CNG station.
